GPX Navigation for Adventure Motorcycles
OffTrail is a free, offline-first GPX navigation app designed for adventure motorcycle riding. Riders can import GPX tracks, generate routes, download whole-country offline maps and navigate in areas with limited or no mobile coverage — on iPhone and Android, with no account required.
GPX navigation built for riding
The core workflow is deliberately short: load a GPX track and ride. OffTrail draws the track on an off-road map, follows your position with course-up tracking and auto-zoom tuned for off-road pace, and warns you the moment you drift off the track — with the bearing back to it — or start riding it the wrong way. Every ride is recorded automatically as a standard GPX file that stays on your phone.
Up to five GPX tracks can be loaded at the same time, each in its own colour. Riding a rally roadbook stage, a multi-day route split into daily tracks, or a network of local trails, the navigation locks onto whichever track you are actually riding.
Why offline matters on an adventure motorcycle
Adventure riding happens where coverage is worst: mountain passes, forest tracks, remote interior regions, other countries where data roaming is expensive or absent. A navigation app that needs a live connection to draw its map fails exactly where you need it most. OffTrail downloads entire countries as offline maps — more than 100 countries are available — so the map, your position and the track all keep working with the phone in airplane mode. GPS itself never needs the internet.
Import a track, or create a route
If you already have a GPX file — from a tour organiser, a friend, or a route-planning site — open it from your phone's file manager, email or share menu and choose OffTrail. If you don't, OffTrail can build the route: tap a point on the map (or type coordinates) and it generates an off-road route to it, or use Round Trip to generate a circular route up to 200 km that brings you back to where you started. For the road sections of a trip there are two on-road profiles — Road Fun favours curvy riding roads, Road Fast gets you there directly. Generating a new route needs a data connection; following it afterwards works offline. See the off-road route planner for how route generation works.
Designed to stay simple
There is no onboarding, no account for normal use, and no menu sprawl. The app explains itself contextually: open it with no tracks and the garage tells you what to do; open a GPX and you are one tap from riding. Everything in OffTrail is measured against "just load a track and ride."

Frequently asked questions
Does OffTrail work without mobile coverage?
Yes. Download the offline map for your country beforehand and the map, your GPS position, the GPX track, off-track alerts and ride recording all work with no mobile coverage at all.
Can I import GPX tracks?
Yes. Open a GPX file from your file manager, email, browser or share menu and choose OffTrail. Up to five tracks can be loaded at once.
Can I generate motorcycle routes?
Yes. OffTrail generates off-road routes to a point you pick on the map or coordinates you type, and on-road routes with the Road Fun (curvy) and Road Fast (direct) profiles. Generating a route needs a data connection; following it works offline.
Can I create circular motorcycle routes?
Yes. Round Trip mode builds a circular route from your location — choose a distance up to 200 km and OffTrail creates a loop that returns to the start.
Does OffTrail require an account?
No. There is no account for normal use — the app works without knowing who you are.
Is OffTrail free?
Yes. OffTrail is free to download and use, including offline maps and GPX navigation, with no ads.
Does OffTrail support CarPlay?
Yes. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both supported: the offline map, your position and navigation guidance appear on the car's screen.
