Group Ride Tracking for Adventure Riders

OffTrail Group Ride lets riders share their live position during a trip without creating user accounts. One rider starts a Group Ride and shares a 6-digit code; the rest of the group joins with it and everyone appears live on the map — up to 15 riders per session.

Join with a code

Group Ride is designed to avoid account setup and complicated invitations. The host starts the session and reads out (or messages) the 6-digit code. Each rider types it in and their position appears on everyone's map. That's the whole flow.

Useful when the group gets separated

On off-road rides the group spreads out — dust, junctions, obstacles, different paces. Seeing the rest of the group on the map makes it easy to tell who is ahead, who is behind and whether someone has stopped, without radio calls or waiting at every crossing.

Temporary by design

Group Ride sessions are ephemeral. Positions are relayed in real time while the session is active — they are not kept as a permanent location history. And like the rest of OffTrail, no user account is required to participate.

iPhone and Android, in the same group

Group Ride works across platforms: iPhone and Android riders join the same session with the same code and see each other on the map. Each rider still records their own ride locally as a GPX file — the session shares live positions, not your files.

Live tracking needs a connection; your navigation doesn't

Live rider positions require network connectivity, because the devices have to exchange location updates. Your own map and GPX navigation are separate: with offline maps downloaded, you keep navigating even where coverage drops — other riders' positions simply pause until the connection returns.
