GPX Navigation on Android Auto

OffTrail supports Android Auto, so your GPX tracks and prepared routes can appear directly on a compatible vehicle or motorcycle display while you ride. Import a GPX or create a route in OffTrail, prepare the maps you need, connect Android Auto and keep the navigation right in front of you.

Keep the route where you can see it

Android Auto acts as the riding display while OffTrail continues running on the Android phone. The interface is designed to keep the current route, position and navigation information visible without turning the display into a full phone interface.

Follow imported GPX tracks or routes created in OffTrail

Already have a GPX? Open it in OffTrail and ride — how import works is covered on the GPX navigation page. Don't have one? OffTrail can generate routes for adventure motorcycles and 4x4, including Road Fun, Road Fast and Round Trips of 50, 100, 150 or 200 km. Route calculation requires a network connection. Once the route and required maps are ready, navigation can continue without continuous mobile coverage.

Android Auto navigation without continuous mobile coverage

Android Auto is the display layer. The navigation data still comes from OffTrail on the phone. If the route and required maps are already available on the device, OffTrail can continue navigating when mobile coverage disappears — the details are on the offline GPX navigation page.

Works with dedicated motorcycle Android Auto displays

Android Auto is increasingly available on compact motorcycle displays, giving riders a dedicated navigation screen while the phone stays protected elsewhere on the bike. We test real hardware with OffTrail on-road and off-road, including inexpensive CarPlay/Android Auto displays — see tested devices and the EKIY 5″ field test.

Also available on Apple CarPlay

OffTrail supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, so the same adventure-navigation workflow can be used with Android or iPhone setups.
